In the black-out

The weather affected audience numbers, but in wartime (1939-1945) there was an added problem. The black-out. Remote areas had no street lighting anyway but the villages that had it couldn’t use it.

In Winter, the W.R.I. sometimes arranged their meetings to take place when there was a full moon.

However, during the war there was ‘double summertime’ which lengthened the evening daylight hours allowing audiences to get home in daylight at the end of a performance.  The Kinloch Players did not have matinees.
